True Beauty

Beauty is not found in the depth of one’s skin,

Beauty is found when you look within,

Its not about the things you think you lack,

Or seeing what you think you want in the mirror looking back,

Misguided value can discredit so much,

And overlook treasures based on sight or touch,

So many gems left unmined,

Being brushed aside in ways often unkind,

But the attributes of the diamond in the rough,

Formed under pressure when times were tough,

They are brilliant without refinement,

Outside of classification or assignment,

Their beauty is in what they are,

It was written long ago star by star,

To change them would be a great travesty,

Just appreciate them in all their majesty.
